The Executive Council is responsible for the overall policy and direction and for providing oversight and advice for the development of the institution. The Executive Council delegates responsibility for day-to-day operations to the Secretary-General and committees.
In accordance to Article VII (i) of the SIDS DOCK Statute “Governance shall be placed in an Executive Council of no less than three (3) and no more than nine (9) member government representatives who shall serve in their official capacities for three (3) year terms. No member of the Council may serve for more than two (2) consecutive terms. One third of the members of the first Council shall be elected to serve for one (1) year, one third shall be elected to serve for two (2) years and one third shall be elected to serve for three (3) years. Thereafter all members of the Council shall be elected to serve their respective term for three (3) years.”
